Housing crisis

A much-needed development to support vulnerable women and their families

The MPSC is supporting the development of a women’s housing project to be located on shire owned land in Rosebud. The SWAN Women for Housing Justice group is very positive about this initiative that aims to provide safe, stable, and affordable medium-term housing for low-income women and their children, as well as women aged 55 and over at risk of homelessness, to help them transition to permanent housing.

Community housing for women & children in Rosebud – Have your say

The Council is seeking views from the community on this proposal. The consultation process is open until 4 June. Please submit your views as soon as possible via the feedback form

SWAN is extremely concerned about the escalating housing and homeless crisis on the Mornington Peninsula. It’s one of the worst in our country.

Recently, one of our members wrote to candidates in the Flinders electorate to ask what, if elected, they/their party would do to address this crisis.  CLICK HERE for the sample letter. Similar letters were sent by others.

We encourage all constituents to contact their candidates, make up their own minds about the quality of the response, and to vote accordingly.
